SESSION RECAPS FOR THE CURRENT COHORT #6
Session 1 – February 5, 2024
Session 1 Handout
Session 1 Slides
Session 1 Summary
At our first session we covered the following (refer to above file):
Introductions – Each participant introduced themselves – name, neighborhood, hometown, why they joined this cohort
Introduction of the Group – How might participants benefit?
Shared overview of the three planned sessions
Partisan Divide Discussion – Shared a very brief Overview of the Divide Problem.
Discussed the difference between Story and Position
Conducted a full group Fishbowl – where each participant shared their Values, Concerns, and Desired Outcomes on Ensuring Trustworthy U.S. Elections and provided the full group the brief opportunity of asking questions. The ground rules for this discussion included:
- We are here to understand & explain, not convince
- Speak for ourselves
- Stick to the activity
- Respectful communication (listening and speaking)
- Confidentiality
After completion of the Fishbowl, each person identified their top 2-5 responses each for Values, Concerns, and Desired Outcomes and submitted them to the moderator for tallying.
Preparations for the Session 2 on March 4 we identified:
Moderator will consolidate and tally the responses, summarize, and send to all participants.
Participants will identify their support for each item to identify common ground and send in for use at session 2.
Participants were asked to identify 1-3 articles, videos, etc that are aligned with their thinking or particularly illuminating on the topic for posting to BuildingBridgesPH.com
